Biography of Sydney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins
Sidney
Crosby is a Canadian professional ice hockey player that was
born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on August 7, 1987. He was
influenced to follow this career by his father, who was a hockey
player too. He started to learn how to skate at the age of 3,
and just 4 years after that moment he was already part of a
local team and managed to impress the press in Atlantic Canada
with his skill. After that he followed a successful career being
part of different teams until he reached the final step:
National Hockey League.
Wayne Gretzky claimed that Sidney Crosby is one of the
best picks in the NHL, and he started to break the records.
One of the highest achievements of Sidney Crosby was the fact
that he managed to become the youngest team captain. Since July
of 2007 he is the captain of the Penguins. During the time he
was awarded with the captain position, he also receives the Hart
Memorial Trophy along with the Lester B Pearson Award. Another
great achievement was the fact that he was asked to play in the
All Star team, and he was the youngest player there too.
Sidney Crosby recently signed a $43.5 million dollars
contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the time period of
five years. The last season (2007-2008) was a successful season
for him and his team. But in the same time it was a tough one
due to the fact that he was not able to play a total of 28 games
due to the ankle injury that he suffered. He also missed the
2008 All-Star Game.

Biography of Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins
Evgeni Malkin is a Russian professional ice hockey
player that is currently a player of the Pittsburgh
Penguins a team that is playing at the NHL. He was born in
Russia on July 31, 1986. His father, Vladimir, was a defenseman
for exactly the same team that he used to play in Russia before
he was transferred to United States team Pittsburgh Penguins.
The position that Evgeni Malkin is currently playing at
the Pittsburgh Penguins is centre, and he shoots on left. Before
the controversial transfer he used to be part of the Metallurg
Magnitogorsk team from Russia. His career in the NHL was delayed
due to the dispute of his transfer.
Ever since he was a player at the National Hockey League he
managed to earn the Calder Memorial Trophy, and during the
second season he helped a lot his team to win the 2008 Stanley
Cup. He was also a runner up for the Hard Memorial Trophy. He
had a lot of success as a junior player too, back in the time
when he was in Russia. He managed to win one gold, 2 silvers and
1 bronze medal as a junior, plus other medals as a senior
player.
On July 2nd, 2008 Evgeni Malkin signed a contract
extension worth $43.5 million dollars with the Pittsburgh
Penguins for a 5 year time period. He also signed a sponsorship
contract with Nike.
